Flower Power

Former textile designer Nicky Hunter's love of flowers enthused us all as she taught us today how to paint Breezy Spring Blossoms.
Nicky's paintings are all about colour and light, and we practiced how to observe tone with our warm-up exercise, a tonal study of a blossom, using just one colour.
For the main picture we followed Nicky's three principles: working light to dark, working thin to thick, and working warm to cool colours for our flower paintings in expressive style. As usual with our workshops, all our paintings came out with different interpretations, as you can see from our final photo. This wasn't an easy workshop, but it was a very satisfying one and we all learned so much. I think you will agree, the results are pretty amazing!
